Went to the oldest Catholic Church in Europe - in Cologne. We caught the end of a mass, then we toured through it - amazing!
We left Dusseldorf yesterday, by train to Munich. This will be our home for quite a few days. It is a pension (bed and breakfast) - very European look inside and out. Went to the famous Hofbeauhas, where there was a band with traditional clothing. Traveled by bus, on the autobahn today - saw the Alps in the distance. Okay, now this is what I thought of when I thought of Germany. Tomorrow it is off to Dachau.
More in a few days.....

Arrived safely in Germany!
The European keyboard is very different - look out for spelling errors. The 8 hour flight went well, watched a few movies. We have been non-stop since we arrived. The hostile is just like a college dorm - I am sharing with 3 FSU students. DRUPA is incredible!! So much technology. Our group goes down to Altchta each night. The German people just hang out at restaurants and pub-type settings, just socializing. The cobble stone streets are filled - it's really cool! Beer, beer, beer everywhere - definitely part of this culture. It is great fun.
Love, love, love the food!
Transportation here is high speed trams and occasional buses - all seem very safe. I think 1 more night here in Dusseldorf, then off to Munich for more adventures.
Probably not going to be able to upload pics - my phone is not internatinal :-(
Hope all is well in America!

Wow - two days from this very moment I will be leaving Detroit, headed to Frankfort, Germany.
Just repacked the suitcase and backpack again. Should be all set now, except for several last minute items. Going to be living out of a medium size suitcase for two weeks - should be interesting!
Traveling with students and faculty from Ferris State University and Western Michigan University on a study abroad trip. The main purpose of the trip will be DRUPA, but there is a full itinerary following that. Can't wait - what a history lesson this will be!

Less than two weeks from now, I will be leaving the homeland for the first time EVER!
Landing in Frankfort, Germany, I will be traveling with
students and professors from Western Michigan University (WMU) and Ferris State
University (FSU). This is a study abroad group from WMU Graphic and
Printing Science department (www.wmich.edu/pci/gps/gps.html).
The purpose of the trip is
to attend the “Olympics” of Print and Graphics expos - at DRUPA (in
Dusseldorf). Check it out: http://www.drupa.com.
Looking forward to seeing the newest in
technology within my industry. I will scope out innovative and beneficial ideas
that will enhance my department at Pfizer, and the most current educational information
for my students at WMU.
Following that, the rest of the two-week trip, we
will be touring and visiting many incredible spots within Germany. There is a very
full itinerary! Can't wait!
More later ……. Need to get
back to organizing for the trip!
